You may have already read or heard, that there is a problem with a relatively large rebate processor, known as Continental Promotion Group, Inc (further CPG) who has filed for bankruptcy today.

Since we have posted quite a few deals that take advantage of rebates on Slickdeals.net, it’s important for us to keep our visitors informed. As not all of our visitors frequent the forums, we wrote this blog post to try to reach a broader audience so that they are informed of the situation and possible consequences.

Who is affected?

The easiest way to see if you are affected, is to check copies of rebate materials you have submitted recently, which have not yet been fulfilled. You keep copies, right? Take a look at the destination address. The department and name of the recepient will vary depending on the brand of the product that carried the rebate, but the address will most likely have the following in it:

P.O. Box 52900 (or P.O. Box 52911)
Phoenix, AZ 85072-2900

CPG main website for checking upon your rebate is www.rebatestatus.com. If you see this site as point of contact on the rebate, you may be affected.

Hello Slickdealers! Here’s your last chance to obtain our very cool 2008 Black Friday tshirt! We have 200 tshirts (M, L, XL) to giveaway.

What do you have to do to get one?

1. Reply to this thread by Nov 14th 11:59pm Pacific time and agree to take a picture of yourself sporting our Black Friday shirt. This time around preference will be given to those who will be shopping in store on Black Friday. Please also state where you will be shopping on Black Friday so we can have a good mix of retailers.
2. We will pick 200 users and the usernames of the lucky candidates will be posted publicly within 24hrs.
3. If you get picked, you will be sent a shirt. Time is of the essence so please check your private message and fill out your address.
4. Once you receive the shirt, wear it with pride and take a pic while you’re shopping. All pictures must be rated PG13.
5. Post the picture in this thread using a image hosting service such as imageshack.us or attach it to your post. If you do not wish to associate your picture with your username, you may private message slickdeals, The Raddish or arjunsr to be added anonymously to the gallery.

How will we pick the candidates?

We will pick out an initial a list of candidates and from that list, 200 will be randomly drawn. The initial list will be based on your reply, user activity and if you will be shopping in store on Black Friday. If picked, you will receive a private message with a link to provide your info.

How will your pictures be used?

It will be added to our picture gallery. Real names and addresses will not be published. We will ask for your permission if we decide to use it for promotional purposes outside of our site slickdeals.net.

Congrats to all who entered our 3rd annual pumpkin contest! It was difficult for us to pick a grand prize winner out of so many great pumpkins. In the end, buvwon’s pumpkin edged ahead. It won the popular vote and it incorporated the SD logo.

Highlights

It’s time to vote for your favorite pumpkins! This year we have a whopping 200+ entries compared to 19 last year. The top 50 based on votes will get Black Friday Tshirts and we will pick the winner of the Dell Mini. It will be a difficult decision as there are some very cool and creative designs. A few Black Friday ads (Harbor Freight & Ace Hardware) are starting to show up so we just opened our Black Friday forum. Come on in and join the fun.

To start it off, we’ll do something fun and have a Slickdeals Pumpkin Carving Contest!! For our third Annual pumpkin contest, we are opening the contest site wide, so everyone go get a pumpkin, carve it, and pm your entry to slickdeals. After we get some entries, we’ll host them anonymously in a temporary forum and put them up for thumbs up/down voting.
