Hello Slickdealers!
We came upon an opportunity to print T-Shirts at a significant discount and quickly took it. Before we knew it, we came up with many designs and ordered several hundred shirts. Maybe we’re in over our heads but I’m sure I’ll have fun stuffing all 250 shirts and mailing them out. This should kick off the shopping pre-season (hint Black Friday) nicely. We have 3 different shirts (250 total) and one Dell Vostro 1510 Laptop, courtesy of Dell Small Business, to give away. Good luck and thanks for visiting SlickDeals.net, your home for the best community driven deal site!
When Dell released the Vostro line of their desktops and notebooks, the reaction to the new line of budget-oriented systems was somewhat mixed. Some saw the series as somewhat conservative in terms of exterior shape and colors, and some really liked the plain look. Some looked at the line as just another “Dell Inspiron” for Small Businesses, but some looked at all the new features, and realized that it’s truly a line of its own. Some compared the laptop section to the then-current unofficial king of business laptop - IBM/Lenovo T series, T60- and T61 in particular, and wrote it off as an inferior, bulky product.
There was, however, one thing that was very hard to beat - the price. From the very first slick deal on it, it became obvious that Dell is looking to capture the market of mid- to small-size businesses, looking for computational power on the go. They seem to have hit the nail on its head with the Vostro. Starting with the absence of trialware, 30-day money back guarantee, free return shipping, along with already existing services Dell provided, they were able to capture the niche market of businesses and individuals who wanted a solid business laptop at a very modest price.
Of course, the original release is never perfect - both Vostro 1400 and 1500 had their share of lovers and haters, for a variety of reasons. Today we are looking at the upgrade to the now-classic Vostro 1500 laptop, the Vostro 1510. (more…)
We just placed an order for limited run Slickdeals T-Shirts that we’ll be giving away in a few days. Want to see what the shirt looks like? There’s also a nice grand prize courtesy of Dell Small Business.
In the past few years the market for all-in-one computers has experienced a noticeable surge in demand. Partly due to the success of Apple’s iMac and the unstoppable drive towards powerful PCs with small footprints, we have started to see new names added to the list of sleek looking desktop computers.
The Dell XPS One is Dell’s latest bid in this market, aimed to simplify your life. After all, it only takes connecting one cable to start the XPS One experience. Let’s see how it really performs and compares to other similar solutions in this premium market.
Though Dell’s Vostro notebooks have always been known for high performance benchmarks at low budget costs, they were neither the most stylish nor the most portable notebooks on the market. Addressing the need for better portability and a more sleek design, Dell released its new Vostro line of notebooks: the Vostro 1310, 1510, and 1710. Thinner and lighter than the previous generation of Vostro laptops, these new Vostros come with an array of configuration options, from Windows XP to Vista, an Intel Celeron chipset to a top of the line Core 2 Duo, up to 4 GB of memory, and even business-orientated security options such as fingerprint readers.
The Vostro 1310 in particular is the thinnest and lightest out of any in the Vostro line. With its stylish build, lightweight frame, and a budget price, it appeals to a broad range of consumers, students and small-business users alike. Borrowing some features from its XPS line such as a slot-loading optical drive and touch sensitive multimedia controls, it definitely rivals other notebooks in its class and may just be one of the best price / performance 13.3″ notebooks to date.
The hot topics box on the right side of our homepage has been instrumental for our editors to find deals for the front page. After using it for a few years, we noticed that the box has dual purposes and there are generally 2 types of deal threads that show up. It has deals where users have voted favorably and it also has deals where there is a good amount of activity (views, replies) but it still needs to draw some eyeballs & votes to fully determine if it is Slickdealer approved.
We originally intended hot topics to only show the very best user voted deals but a lot of times the other deals tend to take over the real estate. It’s still very useful to drive traffic to the other deals so we decided to split them into two boxes one for hot topics and another for up & coming.
Hopefully this makes it easier for SD’ers to sort out the good deals. Try it out and let us know what you think.
Let’s take a look at one of Dell’s most popular notebooks, the Inspiron 1525. Across college campuses everywhere, you will likely find one of these compact notebooks hiding within lecture halls and student unions alike. This review will try to identify both the positive and negative sides of ownership, and what it can offer for you. This review will be split into sections that will review general performance and features, followed by an in-depth review of its usability in a real-world scenario, rather than laboratory conditions. Hopefully, by the time you are done skimming this brief review, you too will have an inside look to this portable notebook.

Hello everyone,
Over the course of the next few days we will be gradually rolling out a new feature, called Forum Archive.
It’s no secret that the SlickDeals.net forums have grown very large and will continue to grow. Every once in a while our servers knock on our door and say “We want a vacation.” So, we are going to give them a vacation, and maybe a bonus or something (but don’t tell them, it’ll be a surprise).
What it means for you as users?
There will be 2 sites which when combined together will contain the whole forums as you came to know them. The link for current forums will not be changing, it will stay http://forums.slickdeals.net. The Archive will be accessible through http://archive.slickdeals.net and will largely look identical to the current forums, except it will be read-only.
Here is a brief Q&A on what will be different, and how things will work.

Greetings all! As we continue to make improvements to the slickdeals.net website, we present to you the newly added consolidated search feature.
Due to popular demand, we added a search box in the main menu to help facilitate ease of searches. At the same time we took the opportunity to redo how search works on SD! Now when you search you will be presented with a results page that consolidates searches.
This new result page breaks it down into three well defined sections: frontpage deals, forum threads or posts, and pricegrabber products or merchants.
Also, you may have noticed we updated our logo and some other minor graphical updates
As a result, many users browsers may contain stale data. It would be advised that if you are experiencing any unusual glitches or if anything looks out of place, that you clear your browsers cache
We hope you enjoy this feature, and would love to hear what you think in this thread
